Community Acupuncture

what, why, how..
What is Community  Acupuncture?
Community acupuncture is a style of acupuncture treatment where you receive acupuncture in a reclining chair, in an open room, with a few other people also receiving acupuncture in reclining chairs. You remain fully dressed, as points used are primarily located on lower arms and legs, and the head. The room is quiet and peaceful and very relaxing.

Is community acupuncture as effective as private treatments?
Yes. Community style acupuncture is as effective as private treatments, or more effective, if you take into consideration that you will be less stressed from paying less. Patients also benefit from the collective energy field, which may be due to limbic resonance, and makes individual treatments more powerful.

How often will I need to come for treatment?
This entirely depends on the specifics of your condition. Some people come in for a few treatments until they feel better, some require long term care, and some just come in every once in a while for a tune-up. Your acupuncturist will discuss your prognosis and treatment plan during your first visit. It is our hope that the low cost of community style acupuncture allows you to come in as frequently as needed.

How much does it cost?
Windstone Acupuncture offers a sliding scale of $30-$50 for community style acupuncture. You decide how much to pay, no questions asked.
There is a one time additional $10 paperwork fee at the initial visit.
Payment is taken before treatment so that you won't have any worries afterwards. Payment may be made in cash, check or credit card.

What should I do to prepare for my treatment and what should I expect?
Most points used are located in the distal areas of the body - the forearms, hands, lower legs and feet- so please wear comfortable clothing that can easily access these areas. You will be relaxing in a reclining chair and may fall asleep. Please advise your acupuncturist if you have a time concern, and most importantly: turn your mobile phone off or to silent, the ring or vibration mode can disrupt yours, or a neighbor's, relaxation.
The needles will remain in from 20-60 minutes. As you become accustomed to receiving acupuncture, you will know when you are 'done'. Your acupuncturist will always be close at hand to see when you are ready to be unpinned and to assist at any time during the treatment.
